Where to eat in Paris? We have ideas!
We get asked all the time for recommendations, not just from our guests, but just in general. Paris is too good to not have a long list of favorites and, truthfully, this list could be much longer. But here are Julie and Lisa’s top picks!
RESTAURANTS:
Brasserie Martin - a true blue brasserie with fun service, great food and drinks and thoughtful hospitality. We randomly wandered in one night after a long day of travel and were treated like old friends.
Le Verre Volé - get a reservation! Sit outside and watch the people on the street. Order as much as you can, it is all good! This has been Julie’s favorite since forever.
L'as du Falafel - best falafel ever - long lines sometimes but worth it!
HolyBelly - breakfast, like kind of American breakfast but Australian in Paris and SO good.
Bistro Paul Bert – this classis brasserie has it all: steak au poivre, ile flotant, intimate setting. It is legendary for a reason!
La Baratin – a chef’s chef, Raquel Corina has been serving up the city’s most exquisite bistrot foods in Paris’s 20th arrondissement since 1987. It is the epitome of a perfect French restaurant in Lisa’s book.
Mokonuts – a truly special place worth navigating the weirds hours for. Check this out for breakfast, lunch or dinner but do check the hours and make a reservation. It is a small space with the most thoughtful hospitality around.
Lou Paris - If you’re from Nashville like us, you may know the effervescent Lou Nashville, queen of natural wines, in Riverside Village. Chef Mailea Weger took her recipe book to Paris in 2022 to open Lou Paris. Stop by and say hello from us and enjoy a fantastic meal of Weger’s california spirit inspired by fresh French ingredients.
DRINKS:
La Cave du Septime - can get crazy busy but fun local hangout for natural wine
La Cave à Michel - also natural wine and yummy snacks
Le Comptoir General – A delightfully fun lil’ tiki spot on the Canal
Hotel Grand Amour - go to the cocktail bar here. Like going back in time and so yummy.
Abricot – opened by two Americans (and pastry chefs), this bar has been a long time coming and serves some of the most creative and delicious cocktails (and pie!) in Paris.
SNACKS:
Pierre Hermé - this is THE place for macarons and tarts or entremets – just delicious. There are several locations and they are all consistently good.
Du Pain et des Idees - an adorable, old-school bakery with delicious everything – get the pistachio snail!
Merci - coffeeshop + concept store. Fun to walk around and look at all the pretty things and talk about buying them ;)
Boneshaker – great donuts that just happen to be vegan, made by the incredible Amanda Bankert!
Blé Sucré – a pastry chef/baker’s dream café, situated near the Marché d’Aligre, you’ll want to get the Paris-Brest and, while you’re at it, you may as well snag one of their famed croissants.
Tapisserie Patisserie – the little pastry sister of Septime family, these pastries are quite skillful and absolutely delicious!
Also, don’t forget to go rogue and discover your own favorites! Travel should not be done exclusively from a list. You’ll miss so much if you don’t wander.
Rêverie forever!
